Look at others feet, bunions, overlapping toes, low arches and the list goes on and on. Our feet do a lot for us, imagine not to have them? We couldn’t even walk. For sure we take good care of other parts in our bodies, yet forget about our feet and ankles. Unless we have a serious problem, we ignore them all together. The Result is shocking, 7 out of 10 people will suffer from foot problems, many which can be totally prevented or healed with proper foot care. Healing with Yoga will teach you how to get started.

 

                                        YOGA for the FEET

 

Have you heard your Yoga Teacher tell you over and over again to spread and engage (bringing awareness) your Toes? Or mention how important your Feet are? We seldom pamper our feet in the real sense. Yes, we go and have pedicures done, for the feet to look good, but does that really contribute to their health? Not really!

Well, there is a good reason to not neglect your feet, in yoga and off the mat. Creating a good base or platform for your feet is half the effort in standing poses/asanas in Yoga. Paying attention to your feet will not only enhance your yoga balance, but contribute to your foot and ankle health in general. Yoga will build healthy and strong arches. By spreading the toes, we rebuild the muscles around them and create space in between our toes. Prevent bunions, or heal them all together.

Yoga will help you develop greater alignment in your feet, which may pay off with a better alignment throughout your ankles, knees, hips and lower back. Avoiding pain and foot related problems all together.

 

 

                       YOGA POSES For Your FEET and ANKLES

 

Here are just a few easy poses to get started. Standing firm in Mountain Pose, lifting all 10 toes, spreading them (whether it works right away or not) will rebuild your arches and strengthen your toes. Walking Movements in Downward Facing Dog will strengthen feet and ankles. YogaTreePose, (balancing on one leg).
