Intermittent fasting, what is it, sure you must have heard about it ? Known for its benefits of fat loss and overall health benefits, on YouTube, Google or any other media? Men and women alike are in to it. But what is intermittent fasting exactly and how is it done? 

WHY INTERMITTENT FASTING

 

Intermittent fasting is (occurring at irregular intervals; not continuous or steady) anywhere from for 12–18 hours. You don’t eat anything except water, unsweetened tea, or black coffee. Perhaps you have been doing this for awhile and not even knowing about it. For example you eat Dinner at 7pm and than have breakfast (breaking the Fast) at 7-8am, with nothing but water, you fasted. Growing up in Germany, this was the norm for families, no-one thought about it. From those 12-13 hours with no food intake, you sleep approximately 7-9 hours of it.

Now, our society is used to eating anytime of the day and even in the night, with fast food restaurants and different work schedules, on the rise, we lost our natural way of eating and giving the body rest in between meals to reset and heal.

MY INTERMITTENT FASTING EXPERIENCE

My journey started in January of 2018, after researching numerous articles from trust worthy sources. I’m the type of person, to dive right into it. I have never fasted, or being on an eating schedule before. My diet is fairly healthy, and I work out 4-5 times weekly and yet I had stubborn belly and inner thigh fat, which bothered me for years. Using  common sense and making sure to adhere to a 12 hour fasting window I dived in for the first week. Then building it up to 13 hours and more.

Over the next few weeks my body adjusted very well to a 14 hour fasting window. Since May 2018, I take 3 days per week, (not consecutive days) and fast between 15-16 hours. This leaves me with an eating window of 8-9 hours. No more calorie counting, just enjoying my food intake.

 

RESULTS

Yes, yes, and more yes! I lost 1 dress size, belly fat gone, (I’m 57 years old and had 5 children) and my thighs are looking better with each week. My energy is amazing, My workouts are more productive and my muscle size and definition is finally visible. I feel more clear in my thinking and I get a lot more things done (Due to not eating right away). Never did I linked this together before, that Fasting is actually in the Bible more than 40 times, so therefore it must be important for our health and well being.

Just give it a try and start slow, like I did, you will be amazed on how easy it is.
