6 BEST | Healthy Habit Hacks
HEALTHY HABITS is key when it comes to being fit, we all have different needs and abilities. I want you to imagine a big puzzle and think of each piece being a part of your health journey. Balance being one, exercise and yoga another, motivational self-talk, faith, healthy food, sound sleep, stress reduction and a few more. Today I want to write about a few not so well known healthy habits, and yet they have a huge impact on our overall well being. Don’t underestimate the power of these 5 life changing daily habits.
I have come that they might have life, and have it more abundantly.
1. To Enjoy Life More
Scientists have not yet discovered the keys to extending life. Regardless of a healthy diet, less stress or just genetics, nobody can predict how long you’ll live. Sure, you can prevent disease, by exercising, making better food choices, losing weight and improve your overall energy by taking care of your health. Forming better healthy habits, you’re also improving your quality of life. You’ll develop more strength to go walking, play your favorite sport, hang with the grandkids, go dancing or walk your dog. Try to do at least 1-2 things on a daily base, to enjoy life more.
A cheerful heart brings a smile to your face;
a sad heart makes it hard to get through the days,
2. Laugh More
When was the last time you really held your belly from a deep laugh? A merry heart is good medicine, after all. Laughing relieves physical tension and reduces stress, leaving all your muscles relaxed. Your brain releases dopamine and serotonin activity, so laughter boosts the immune system. Laughing decreases the stress hormones in the body and increases immune cell function and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease. This sums it all up, what are you waiting for? Form a new healthy habit, be silly and laugh.
A joyful, cheerful heart brings healing to both body and soul.
But the one whose heart is crushed
struggles with sickness and depression.
3. Hug Someone
Hugging increases levels of the “love hormone” oxytocin. This, in turn, may have beneficial effects on your health and overall well being. A 20-second hug, along with 10 minutes of hand-holding, reduces the harmful physical effects of stress. A hug or physical touch can lower your blood pressure and normalize your heart rate. A hug lowers your cortisol (the stress hormone), calming you down for a better night of sleep. Not to late to start another healthy habit.
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart. Helen Keller
4. Rid Yourself of Negative Talk
When negative events or things happen all around us, positive self-talk seems to turn the negative thought process into a positive one. It will help you do better, go further, or just keep moving on. The more we keep our negative self-talk going, the worst and pitiful we feel. Negative thinking and talking brings on a herd of emotional diseases, stress, anxiety, restlessness and loss of confidence. Rehearsing negative self-talk over and over in your mind is more disruptive than speaking it over others.
5. Program your Mind for Greatness
Let’s get into the habit of turning our self-talk into a healthy positive one. It might feel really strange at first to give yourself a positive pep-talk, just try it, wether you feel like it or not. Start by saying things like “I can do this”, “I will succeed”, “I’m well able”, “I’m talented” or ” I am pressing forward”. You l will automatically feel better about yourself in no time, and others around you will notice the change too. An old adage out there goes “If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
A Champions Creed
Whenever you think you are beaten, you are.
When you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you’d like to win but you think you can’t
It’s almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost.
For out in the world we find,
Success begins with the fellow’s will,
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are;
You’ve got to think to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man;
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the one who thinks he can. Posted by Joey Warner , Nov. 2004
6. “Spoil” Yourself
Finally, the easiest and almost overlooked healthy habit, “take care of yourself”.This will look different to different people. To me, it means a cozy evening, watching my favorite movie or TV show on Netflix and munching on a healthy treat or two. For others, it could mean eating their favorite dinner with a friend, spending time with a loved one, going shopping, buying the long awaited outfit, or just getting a few hours of extra sleep. Figure out what makes you feel good and do it as often as you can. Maybe that means setting aside alone time, doing yoga, or just going for a walk. Feeling good about yourself starts from within, so don’t complicate this, let it happen organically and enjoy your new healthy habits. 🙂
